Business Rates Grants
There have been extensive measures introduced around business rates since the initial Coronavirus measures were introduced. These measures are particularly aimed at businesses with business premises that have had a rates assessment from their local Council.
Rates holiday for Retail, Hospitality & Leisure businesses
If you are involved in the above sectors you will pay no business rates for the 2020-21 tax year (up to 5th April 2021).
Cash Grant for Retail, Hospitality & Leisure businesses
If you are involved in the above sectors you will also qualify for a cash grant. The level of grant will depend on certain criteria, being:
Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of up to £15,000 may be eligible for a grant of £10,000.
Businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000 may be eligible for a grant of £25,000.
Eligibility
You are eligible for the grant if:
your business is based in England
your business is in the retail, hospitality or leisure sector
your business has a rateable value of under £51,000
How to access the scheme
You will be contacted by your local Council to apply for this funding. We understand that this will be an online process and payments will be made directly to the businesses via BACS.
Cash Grant for Other Businesses
The government will provide additional Small Business Grant Scheme funding for local authorities to support small businesses that already pay little or no business rates because of small business rate relief (SBRR), rural rate relief (RRR) and tapered relief. This will provide a one-off grant of £10,000 to eligible businesses to help meet their ongoing business costs.
Eligibility
You are eligible if:
your business is based in England
you are a business that occupies property
you are receiving small business rate relief or rural rate relief as of 11 March
